If you want to stop the pain watch the video now.

You may have been living with back pain or sciatica for a long time.  The good news is that you don’t have to suffer any more!  At Optimize Therapy and Fitness,  we believe that movement is life!  Remember what your life was like before you had back pain?  Now imagine what your life could be like again without the limitation of back pain.

Why this exercise will help

The muscles of the hip will often be tight and cause limited mobility and pain.  This exercises directly works on stiff muscles of the hip that can be caused from imbalance in strength and tightness.  Opening up the hips will relieve tightness in the lower back and take pressure off the discs and nerves of the back

Exercise instructions

This will be a fairly intense exercise, which is why I have set it up into three levels of stretch.  Start with the first level and progress to the next as each one gets easier.  Discomfort and soreness can be expected with this exercises.  This is okay as long as you are not feeling an increase in your primary pain complaint.  Never force into pain.  If soreness occurs, it  should not last more than 24-48 hours.

Frequency

  1. Do this exercise once or twice per day.  Hold the pose for 30-60 seconds or 10-15 deep breaths
  2. These exercises can be performed at any time during the day
  3. Ice can be applied for 10-15 minutes to the hip or back afterwards to help control soreness from the exercise
  4. If this exercise causes increase in pain or symptoms…STOP and call (301) 356-5500 immediately
